Biography

Caroline de Vivaise works in cinema, opera and drama theatre. She worked at over sixty film projects with the most prominent French directors such as Claude Berri, André Téchiné, Benoîte Jacquot, Raoul Ruiz, Gérard Mordillat, Andrzej Zulawski, Nicolas Saada, Valeria Bruni Tedeschi, Patrice Chereau, Bertrand Tavernier and Guillaume Gallienne.

She has been awarded the César Award for the best costumes for the films Germinal (1994), Gabrielle (2006) and La Princesse de Montpensier (2011).

In opera theatres, she has worked with such directors as Arnaud Petit, Raoul Ruiz, Vincent Huguet, Patrice Chéreau, Clément Hervieu-Léger (La Didone by Cavali and Mitridate, re di Ponto by Mozart). In drama theatres, she has also worked with Bruno Bayen, Louis Do de Lencquesaing, Daniel San Pedro, John Malkovich, Thierry de Peretti, Patrice Chéreau and Clément Hervieu-Léger.

Her collaboration with Vincent Huguet included Xavier Dayer's Contes de la lune vague après la pluie in 2015 at the Opéra de Rouen and at the Opéra comique, Paris, revival of Elektra by Patrice Chéreau at La Scala (2014), Metropolitan Opera, Helsinki Opera and Liceu Theatre, Barcelona (2016) and Dido&Aeneas at Aix en Provance.
