Biography

Born in Cluj-Napoca, Rumania in 1983, Adrian Sampetrean studied singing at the ‘Gheorghe Dima’ Music Academy in his native city under his father Mircea Sampetrean, bass.

In 2006 he made his stage debut as Colline in La Bohème at the Rumanian National Opera in Cluj-Napoca
followed by appearance as Raimondo (Lucia di Lammermoor).

on the International “Hariclea Darclee” Singing Competition and the International “Eugenia Moldoveanu” Singing Competition. In the season 2007/08 he was a member of the Opera Studio at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich.

His first European appearances include
Der Vampyr at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, The Queen of Spades at the Opera de Monte-Carlo and Lucia di Lammermoor in Düsseldorf.

From 2009 to 2011 Adrian Sampetrean was a member of the ensemble of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, where he sang Sparafucile in Rigoletto, Oroveso in Norma, Angelotti in Tosca, Colline in La Bohème, Raimondo in Lucia di Lammermoor.
In August 2011 he made his debut as Leporello in Don Giovanni at the Salzburg Festival.

In the season 2011/12 Adrian Sampetrean appeared as first bass at the
Hamburgische Staatsoper singing Alidoro in La Cenerentola, Don Basilio in Il barbiere di Siviglia, Leporello in Don Giovanni, Banco in Macbeth, Ramfis in Aida etc. He also continued his collaboration with the Deutsche Oper am Rhein Düsseldorf Duisburg.
