Biography

Albert Kriemler is the creative mind behind the sleek, effortless and tangibly refined fashion vernacular of Akris, an independent, family-owned women’s fashion house founded in 1922 in St. Gallen, Switzerland.

Akris has subsidiaries in Japan, the US, China and Korea and operates its own boutiques in major cities around the globe. The collections are also available in over 300 selected points of distribution worldwide.

Since 2004, Albert Kriemler, the grandson of Akris founder Alice Kriemler-Schoch, shows his collections during Paris Fashion Week. In 2010, he launched his handbag collection with the iconic Ai bag and established its trapezoid shape, based on the “A”, as a signature of the house.

For his runway collections, Albert Kriemler is known to collaborate with contemporary artists like Thomas Ruff, Carmen Herrera and Rodney Graham as well as with architects such as Sou Fujimoto, translating their aesthetics with utmost respect into fashion.

Albert Kriemler has collaborated with choreographer John Neumeier since 2005. He designed costumes for John Neumeier’s ballets at the Vienna State Opera, for the Vienna Philharmonic’s New Year’s concert and at the Hamburg State Opera.
