Алексей Вотяков


Graduated from the department of Design of the Magnitogorsk University in 1998, and completed his postgraduate degree in Scenography and Costume in 2003. As designer he worked on performances: Home, Last Summer in Chulimsk (Moscow Art Theatre), The Devil, Wife, The Twelfth Night, The Toupée Artist (Oleg Tabakov Theatre), An Envy Man (Russian Academic Youth Theatre), Pretty Girl (Moscow Sovremennik Theatre), The Life and Extraordinary Adventures of Oliver Twist (Children's musical theatre to them. N. Sats), Talk after the Funeral (Moscow Drama Theater on Malaya Bronnaya). He has collaborated with many Russian theatres, including the Mariinsky Theatre, Theatre on the Fontanka (St. Petersburg), the Academic Drama Theatre, the Fifth Theatre (Omsk), the Ekaterinburg Children’s Theater, the Kamala Theater (Kazan), as well as theatres in Ufa, Voronezh, Chelyabinsk, Magnitogorsk, Perm, Samara, Saratov, Nizhny Novgorod, Seoul, etc. Designed more than 150 performances, those among: Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (dir. V. Shrayman, Magnitogorsk Drama Theatre), The King Dies (dir. V. Kokorin, Omsk Academic Drama Theatre), The Marriage. Superfly! based on the play by N. Gogol (dir. V. Kramer; a coproduction of Saint-Petersburg Theatre «Baltic House» and the Florentine Theatre Metastasio), The Seagull (dir. K. Ginkas, OD MUSICAL COMPANI, Seoul, South Korea), the opera A Carriage (composer A. Kruglik, conductor Valery Gergiev, director M. Kalsin; Mariinsky theatre), The Devil (dir. M. Stankevich, Moscow Oleg Tabakov Theater), L'Avare (dir. E. Peregudov, RAMT), The Wife (dir. M. Stankevich, Moscow Oleg Tabakov Theater), Toupee Artist (dir. M. Stankevich, Moscow Oleg Tabakov Theater), Women’s Time (dir. Danilov, Magnitogorsk Pushkin Drama Theatre), The Life and Extraordinary Adventures of Oliver Twist (dir. G. Isaakyan, N. Sats Moscow Children's Academic Theatre), My Name is Red (dir. M. Kalsin, Kamal Theater), A Streetcar Named Desire (dir. E. Ravinsky, Voronezh Chamber Theater). Worked with directors: K. Ginkas, V. Ravinsky, etc. The winner of the Golden Mask award for the performance Thunder-Storm at the Magnitogorsk Drama Theatre (dir. L. Erenburg). His works were awarded at numerous Russian theater festivals («Novosibirsk transit» 2014, «Theatre without borders», «The Stage»). He received the silver medal of the Russian Artists’ Union for the painting The Song, which was presented at the Interregional Biennale of Contemporary Art of the Urals «LABYRINTH» (2014).
