Biography

Born in Civitavecchia, Rome, he studied with Carlo Bergonzi and completed his education at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena.

Since his professional debut as the Duke in Rigoletto at Teatro Municipal in Santiago de Chile, he has been guest at the most renowned opera houses on international scale, Teatro alla Scala, Metropolitan Opera of New York, Paris Opéra Bastille, Royal Opera House of London, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Liceu in Barcelona, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Teatro dell’Opera in Rome, Wiener Staatsoper, Zurich Opernhaus, Berlin Deutsche Oper, Bayerische Staatsoper, San Francisco Opera, Los Angeles Opera, the Japan Opera Foundation of Tokyo.

He has successfully collaborated with several orchestra conductors, among others, Semyon Bychkov, James Conlon, Daniele Gatti, James Levine, Christian Thielemann, Roberto Abbado, Renato Palumbo.

He has, to remember a few commitments, performed in: Tosca, Rigoletto, Macbeth and Madama Butterfly at Metropolitan Opera House in New York, Tosca at Teatro Regio di Torino, Fanciulla del West at La Scala in Milan, Tosca in Berlin.

Among his recent engagements: Tosca in Turin and Berlin, Carmen in Bologna, Turin and Palermo, Turandot in Peralada, Norma in Venice and in Madrid. In 2017 we mention Verdi’s Messa da Requiem with the Berliner Philarmoniker under the baton of Riccardo Chailly, Stiffelio by Verdi in Bilbao, Carmen in Venice, Don Carlo in Florence and the return at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York with Carmen and Madama Butterfly.
