Awards

In 2002 he took part in the “Ukrainian Bel Canto” competition in Donetsk and won the Grand Prix.
In 2010 he was awarded the 1st prize at the IV Frederic Chopin International Competition in St. Petersburg, Russia.
In 2013 he won the Grand Prix at the VI Anatoly Solovyanenko International Competition (Donetsk, Ukraine).
In 2015 he was awarded the lst prize and audience sympathy prize at the Paris Opera Competition.
In 2016 he was awarded the 2nd prize at Plácido Domingo’s Operalia, the World Opera Competition in Guadalajara.

						

Biography

Born in Torez, Donetsk region (Ukraine).
Bogdan Volkov studied under Tamara Kowal at the Faculty of Musical Art at the Glier Kiev Institute of Music which he graduated with honors in 2012. In 2013 he completed his vocal studies graduating with honors from the Tchaikovsky Kiev National Academy of Music where his voice teacher was Alexander Dyachenko. At the Opera Studio of the Academy he performed Alfredo in La Traviata.

In 2013-15 was a member of the Young Artists Program of the Bolshoi Theatre. In October 2013 he made his Bolshoi Theatre debut in Be in the Mood for Opera performance as the Tenor. 
In 2016 he joined the Bolshoi Theatre Opera Company.

Tours

In April 2015 he participated in “Mirella Freni and Opera: 60 Years of Love” concert at the Luciano Pavarotti Municipal Theatre of Modena. In August 2015 he performed the cantata La mort de Sardanapale at the Hector Berlioz Festival in La Côte-Saint-André with Orchestre National de Lyon (conductor Leonard Slatkin). In September 2015 he performed the tenor part in the Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 at the Lyon Auditorium (Orchestre National de Lyon, conductor Leonard Slatkin).

In 2017 he took part in the production of Weinberg`s Idiot at the Bolshoi Theatre, singing the title role.
In July 2017, he sang Lensky in Eugene Onegin concert performance on the Bolshoi Theatre Opera Company tour to Aix-en-Profence and Savonlinna Opera Festivals, and Almerik in Iolanta production (conductor Tugan Sokhiev).
