Bolshoi Ballet productions live on the Big Screen in 22 countries!

19.12.2010

THE BOLSHOI THEATRE OF RUSSIA and CIELECRAN, the French TV Company, are happy to announce 4 live performances in real time of Bolshoi Ballet productions in over 300 cinemas in 22 countries. Last year as a pilot project in its new Ballet in Cinema Series CIELECRAN broadcast Boris Asafiev’s The Flames of Paris, revived for the Bolshoi repertoire by Alexei Ratmansky (with Natalia Osipova, Ivan Vasiliev, Alexander Volchkov and Nina Kaptsova in the main roles). It was mainly French cinemas which participated in the pilot project (though several cinemas in other European countries also took part). Now CielEcran launches its new Ballet In Cinema Series with 4 live performances from the Bolshoi Ballet’s 235th season in cinemas in France, Belgium, Czechia, Denmark, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Switzerland, Great Britain, USA, Japan and Australia. In all the countries, apart from the last two, the performances will be in real time (beginning at 7.00 pm. Moscow time or at 5.00 pm. Paris time) and all are on Sundays.

For a complete list of the cinemas consult the www.cielecran.com site as from 2nd November.

The Bel Air Media Company will be responsible for the live HD broadcasts and recordings of the performances.
(The Bolshoi Theatre and Bel Air Media have been collaborating for many years: Bel Air Media recorded the Bolshoi Theatre ballet productions of Pugni’s La Fille du Pharaon, The Queen of Spades to music by Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich’s Bolt, Asafiev’s The Flames of Paris, and the opera Eugene Onegin. And there are plans to record Berg’s Wozzeck and relay it on the MEZZO TV channel on 26 November 2010.)
