"Enel is proud to support Russian cultural initiatives", said Carlo Tamburi, Head of Enel’s International Division. "Our massive investments in Russia in both electricity and gas sectors testify our commitment to act as good citizens in this country. The agreement with the Bolshoi Theatre enables us to support the arts for the benefit of society".

Anatoly Iksanov, General Director of the Bolshoi, also expressed his enthusiasm over the new agreement: "Having a well-known Italian company such as Enel as the official sponsor of the Bolshoi Opera is for us something to be proud of. We are very grateful for the support of those who love and appreciate artistic excellence of the Bolshoi. Together with Enel we will combine efforts in creating opera productions to be admired by the Russian and international public and generations to come".

Enel is Italy's largest power company, and Europe's second listed utility by installed capacity. It is an integrated player which produces, distributes and sells electricity and gas. Enel is also present through a 49.5% stake in RusEnergoSbyt, providing electricity to major industrial customers, and SeverEnergia (former Enineftegaz, a consortium 40% Enel - 60% Eni) which manages a group of promising gas fields including 100% of OAO Articgaz, 100% of ZAO Urengoil, 100% of OAO Neftegaztechnologiya.
