
Biography
Born in Lazdjai (Lithuania). In 2000, he completed his studies at the vocal department of the Lithuanian Music Academy (V. Yuozapaitis’s class). In the same year he made his debut at Lithuanian National Opera where, at the present time, he is lead soloist.
His repertoire includes: Georges Germont (La Traviata), Conte di Luna (Il Trovatore), Title role (Nabucco), Renato (Un ballo in maschera), Amonasro (Aida), Title role (Rigoletto), Enrico (Lucia di Lammermoor), Alfio (Cavalleria rusticana), Tomsky (The Queen of Spades), Escamillo (Carmen), Tonio (Pagliacci), High Priest (Samson et Dalila), Don Carlos (La forza del destino), Sharpless (Madama Butterfly), Belcore (L’elisir d’amore), Count Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro), solo parts in the following oratorios: Mendelssohn’s Elijah and Orff’s Carmina Burana.
In 2005, he made his Bolshoi Theatre debut. His repertoire at the Bolshoi includes: Ford (Falstaff), Sharpless (Madama Butterfly), Ruprecht (The Fiery Angel).
In 2002, he won the Lithuanian National Opera prize for Company soloist with the most potential.
He has taken part in many Lithuanian Festivals; he has also appeared at the Opera Festival in Dalhalla (Sweden, 2003) and at the international Viva il Canto Festival (Poland, 2004).
He has given solo concerts in the USA, Sweden, Poland, Finland, Switzerland and Spain. For Latvian National Opera he has sung the title role in Nabucco and also Renato (Un ballo in maschera); for the Krakow Opera Company (Poland) he has sung the title roles in Nabucco and Rigoletto and Georges Germont (La Traviata); for Estonia National Opera he has sung Escamillo (Carmen).
He has appeared with the following conductors: Juozas Domarkas, Jonas Aleksa, Aurelio Canonici, Andrei Strashinsky, Wolfgang Gennenwein, Andris Nelsons, Gintaras Rinkevichius.
