Biography

In 1971, he completed his studies at the Rostov-on-the-Don State Rakhmaninov Conservatoire (A. Belyaeva’s class). In the same year he joined the Kirov Theatre Opera Company.
From 1975-77, he was a probationer at the Teatro La Scala, in Italy, where he prepared the followings roles: Radames (Aida), title role (Otello), Ismaele (Nabucco), Cavaradossi (Tosca).
In 1979, he joined the Bolshoi Theatre Opera Company as soloist.
