Biography
Born in Leningrad (today Saint Petersburg). In 1996, he completed his studies at the Gnesin Russian Academy of Music (teachers — K. Lisovsky, N. Shilnikova). He then worked with The Helikon-Opera Company and The Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Musical Theatre.
In 1998, he became a soloist with the Bolshoi Theatre. Now he appears at the Bolshoi as guest soloist.

In 2003, appeared as Tebaldo in the new production of Bellini’s I Capuleti e i Montecchi with Opera de Montpellier and Astrologer (The Golden Cockerel) in Opera de Toulouse.
In 2004, performed the role of Nose in Shostakovich’s The Nose with Bard Festival, USA (conductor Leon Botstein, director Francesca Zambello).
In 2006, in Jerusalem took part in a performance of Shostakovich’s From Jewish Folk Poetry cycle (Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, conductor Leon Botstein).
In 2007, sang Mephistopheles in The Fiery Angel at La Theatre de la Monnaie (Brussels, conductor Kazushi Ono, director Richard Jones).
In 2008, he sang the part of Shabby Peasant (The Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk) at Maggio Musicale Fiorentino (conductor James Conlon, director Lev Dodin).
In 2011, he sang the part of the Nose (Shostakovich’s The Nose) at the Opernhaus Zürich (conductor Ingo Metzmacher, director Peter Stein).
