
Biography
Graduated from the Ecole Superieure des Arts Decoratifs, Nicolas Rivenq started vocal studies with J.Bonnardot at thee Conservatoire National de Musique in Orleans. Choir Member of Les Arts
Florissants and La Chapelle Royale, he joined for 2 years the Ecole d’Art Lyrique of Paris National Opera studying with M.Senechal, before following the courses of italian-russian bass N.Rossi-Lemeni
at the Indiana University during 3 years.
Draw to the attention of Yehudi Menuhin, he made his debut at the Edinburgh and Gstaad Festivals under his direction. Back to France, he started a long collaboration with W.Christie with
Atys at Paris Opera Comique, Les Indes Galantes in Aix-en Provence, Les Boreades at Paris National Opera or on tour throughout the world. Together with J.C.Malgoire and
P.L.Pizzi he took part to more than 20 of their productions (Rinaldo, Hippolyte et Aricie, Le Comte Ory, Les Danaides, Mozart-Da Ponte Trilogie, Platee, Les Paladins, 3 Monteverdi
operas, etc.).
G.Strehler chose him for his final opera production (Cosi Fan Tutte) for the opening of the Teatro d’Europa in Milano. He is invited to perform concerts for La Fenice re-opening under the
direction of R.Muti and for the Cite de la Musique in Paris opening under the direction of P.Boulez and W.Christie.
With a large repertoire from baroque to modern music Nicolas Rivenq performs throughout the world under the direction of numerous conductors like Z.Mehta, S.Ozawa, R.Jacobs, I.Fischer, M.Plasson,
A.Pappano, E.Pido, M.Benini, G.Carella, M.Guidarini, D.Renzetti, R.Palumbo, A.Gerecz, J.E.Gardiner, K.Montgomery, J.Marin, D.Gatti, C.Scimone, etc.
Nicolas Rivenq participated to more than 50 CD or DVD recordings.
He received the First Prize of the G.B.Viotti Competition in Vercelli in 1990.
