Biography

Oxana Volkova was born in Minsk. She graduated from the Belarusian State Academy of Music, vocal class of Professor Lidia Galushkina. In 2002, was invited to the National Academic Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus. In 2009 Oxana Volkova joined the Bolshoi Theatre Young Artists Program (Director Professor Dmitry Vdovin).

Since 2010 she has been a guest soloist with the Bolshoi Theatre Opera Company and performed the roles of Carmen (G.Bizet`s Carmen), Lyubasha (N. Rimsky-Korsakov`s The Tsar's Bride), Olga (P. Tchaikovsky`s Eugene Onegin), Fenena (Verdi`s Nabucco), the Page (N. Rimsky-Korsakov`s The Legend of the Invisible City of Kitezh and the Maiden Fevronia), Laura (A. Dargomyzhsky`s The Stone Guest).

Tours

In 2003 Oxana Volkova sang the mezzo-soprano parts in cantatas Moscow by P.Tchaikovsky and Alexander Nevsky by S.Prokofiev with Symphony Orchestra of Ireland under the conduction of Alexander Anisimov in Dublin.

In 2010 she performed Olga (Eugene Onegin) for the Bolshoi Theatre tour to London (Royal Opera House Covent Garden) and Madrid (Teatro Real).

In May 2010, Oxana Volkova sang at Washington Opera Ball in honor of Placido Domingo. She also took part in the concerts of the National Philharmonic orchestra of Russia and State Chamber Orchestra "Moscow Virtuosi" under Vladimir Spivakov in CIS/Commonwealth of Independent States and Switzerland.

Since 2010 she has been guest soloist with the Latvian National Opera, on the stage where she performed the role of Carmen (director Andrejs Zagars). She took part in the performance of the cantata Moscow in Copenhagen by Alexander Vedernikov (baritone Sergei Leiferkus). She also appeared as Santuzza (Cavalleria rusticana) in Teatro di San Carlo (Napoli).

In 2011 Oxana Volkova debuted at Teatro Massimo di Palermo as Laura Adorno (La Gioconda), sang Polina (The Queen Spades) at Mikhailovsky Theatre (Saint-Petersburg) and Carmen (Carmen) at Teatro dell’Opera Giocosa (Savona). In September 2011 she sang Marguerite (La Damnation de Faust) at the opening of the season in Opera de Nice (France).

In 2013 she has been invited to perform by the Metropolitan Opera (Maddalena in Rigoletto, Olga in Eugene Onegin), the Latvian National Opera and Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires (Carmen).

In the 2014-15 season she sang the title roles of Carmen at the Latvian National Opera, Salzburger Landestheater and Samson and Dalila at the National Centre of Performing Arts (Beijing). She also sang Olga (Eugene Onegin) at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden.

Among recent engagements: Maddalena (Rigoletto) at the Israeli Opera (Tel Aviv), the title role of Carmen and Giovanna Seymour (Anna Bolena) at the Estonian National Opera, Olga (Eugene Onegin) at the Latvian National Opera.

She took part in the festivals: Irina Arkhipova presents, International Festival Vladimir Spivakov is Inviting, International Festival of Arts under direction of Yuri Bashmet (Sochi), International Chereshnevy Les Open-Art Festival (Moscow), Sommer in Lesmona (Bremen), Opera en el Convento (La Palma).
